Williamsburg is our latest road trip. We went in late October of 2001 and stayed at Powhatan Plantation. We're trying something new: we've put together a little slide show from our Yorktown visit for you - enjoy! (BTW, we are planning on making the photographs bigger - maybe after the New Year...)
We'll be adding captions and a history lesson later on (we were shocked to hear that there are some folks who don't realize that the USA won her independence from Great Britain in the 1780s). Basically, the slide show is a tour of the battlefield, including Surrender Field and the Moore House where the British surrender was negotiated. The last stop is the sign marking General Washington's* campsite. Here's what's on the Washington campsite sign:
*that's right - George, the first president of the US. Also the guy on the front of the quarter and the dollar bill and Mt. Rushmore.
